Carpe Diem Dance

Carpe Diem Dance is the creation of  Lisa Jackson. It is a confluence of her years of study in holistic health practices and her decades of yoga practice. She combines fluid movement and yoga principles with music into a complete practice. It is a fun, non-intimidating way to experience exercise that benefits the heart, brain and soul while allowing creative expression through movement. It’s a great way to feel vital and energized.

Fascia Fusion

Fascia is far more interesting than you realize. This connective tissue that surrounds every single cell of your body is responsible for living a flexible and pain-free life. This class teaches myofascial movements and self-massage techniques for freeing your fascia, restoring elasticity to your body, and bringing ease to your joints and tissues. Students will learn to release tightness and tension and leave class feeling lighter, looser, and refreshed! WORK-OUT CLOTHES OPTIONAL. WORK-CLOTHES FRIENDLY CLASS.

Nia

Nia is an exhilarating movement and lifestyle practice that tones the body and engages the mind through movements that are adapted from dance, martial arts and healing arts.  Nia consists of non-impact, holistic movements, practiced barefoot to the rhythms of diverse, soul-stirring music. Nia is adaptable to your individual needs and abilities - Every Body is welcome.  Classes are taught by licensed Nia teachers who are excited to share the Joy of Movement with you.

Moving Meditation (Qigong)

Qigong is an ancient Chinese gentle practice of movement that heals and supports all body functions. It helps your body, mind and spirit to connect with each other and function in harmony.  Qigong has the power to reawaken and strengthen your body’s innate healing ability, and lets you increase and balance Qi, or life force.   This practice is a pillar of Chinese medicine. Fundamental to this approach is the understanding that before any symptom appears in the body, there is an energy blockage.  When the qi is flowing, there is health and also a sense of joy!

Restorative Rest and Sound Balancing

This class combines the healing benefits of Restorative Rest and Sound Healing. Restorative poses are bending and opening positions that are held in comfort using blankets, bolsters and blocks. They are held for 2-10 minutes to allow the fascia, muscles, joints and mind to unwind and relax. It can be an exhilaration feeling to have tension released in this way. 

We layer over this the balancing sounds of various professional sound healers. The frequencies of sound assist in bringing the mind to a meditative state, and also steers the body to balance and ease.

Sound and Movement

This class fuses Hatha yoga poses, Qigong exercises, and Sound Healing. The free-flowing movements for all level of physical fitness will place attention on alignment, serene state of mind, and joy. With regular practice, both Hatha yoga and Qi Gong, cultivate a clear understanding of how your body moves, and how to strengthen and relax it.

Sound healing is the use of deep-vibrational instruments such as crystal bowls to support healing and meditation. The tones the bowls carry impact us in specific ways, different tones activate different energy centers, organs, and organ systems within the body. As the sounds reverberate throughout the body, participants can allow themselves to reach deeper states of consciousness and allow regeneration of cells within the body.

The combination of healthful movement and sound healing maximizes the effect of both, making this a very beneficial hour.

Street Clothes Stretch

No need to get sweaty to stay healthy...at least not all the time.... Refresh in the middle of your work-day with this short full-body routine that revitalizes and releases tension. We use movements to stimulate the energy body refined from concepts of eastern health practices like acupuncture and yoga. Perfect for those who are new to movement, or the very athletic, and everyone in between.

Yin and Yang Yoga

Yin and Yang are the concepts which describe any two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is more internal, passive, cooling and downward. While Yang is more external, dynamic, warming and upward.
Yin Yoga is a slower practice. Poses are passive and held longer.This works the connective tissues and joints. Yang Yoga refers to an active practice that builds strength, stamina and flexibility.
This Yin/Yang Yoga practice is suitable for everybody. It will develop a deeper awareness of the body, and the delicate balances that sustain it. You will discover stillness in movement and the flow in stillness.
